As producers prepared for summer video sales, June marked the highest monthly enrollment in AngusLink® history at 62,560 head and 145 enrollments.

The record enrollment highlights a growing number of producers using documentation and management information to differentiate their calves in the marketplace. Producers are taking steps to tell a more complete story about their genetic merit and management decisions while verifying registered Angus genetics.

Producer-driven

Sarah Dreyer, commercial programs manager for the American Angus Association, recognizes the commitment of producers as the driving force for the enrollment milestone.

“Record enrollment is a testament to the producers committed to keeping records and taking the steps to add value to their investment in genetics,” Dreyer says. “Producers are recognizing the value that more information brings to buyers.”

The record comes as AngusVerifiedSM approaches a major milestone of 1 million head enrolled, an achievement backed by years of producers committed to verifying their registered Angus genetics in the marketplace.

“These milestones matter because of the producers behind them,” Dreyer adds. “They’re who we’re celebrating.”

Marketplace momentum
Record Enrollment

HomeAngusLink-enrolled calves were well-represented in major video sales across the country throughout June and early July.

  • Western Video Market June Sale: 10 lots, 977 head
  • Superior Livestock Auction Corn Belt Classic Sale: 35 lots, 3,832 head
  • Northern Early Summer Special: four lots, 970 head
  • Superior Livestock Auction Week in the Rockies: 68 lots, 10,363 head
  • Western Video Silver Legacy Sale: 147 lots, 18,246 head

Momentum created by record enrollment continued through midsummer sales and is expected to carry into the remaining marketing season.

Forward momentum

Kurt Kangas, regional manager for the Association, highlights how the program’s momentum has maintained a consistent market presence throughout the sale season.

“Coming off a strong June enrollment cycle, we are seeing AngusLink cattle hit the marketplace in the summer video sale run,” Kangas says. “Sellers are reaping the benefits of differentiating their calves in a highly competitive market.”
