The Genetic Excellence Bull Sale and the Angus Traditions registered female sale are hosted together by Tennessee producers Jared Brown & Son and Holt Farms.

Jared Brown established Jared Brown & Son Angus (JBS) in 1961 with the purchase of two registered Angus heifers from breeder Harold Bilbrey. The operation is now run by Jared’s son, Kent, and provides cattle that excel in a balance of traits. The operation focuses on producing maternally oriented animals that can perform in the commercial cattleman’s environment.

Cows are the focus at JBS, Kent says. “If the cows are good, the bulls will be.”

Extreme selection pressure has been placed on feet and leg structure, teat and udder quality, slick hair coats, fleshing ease on grass, fertility, maternal function and docility. These traits aren’t considered convenience at JBS; they’re essential.
