For nearly three decades, Coleman Angus has built its program around one unwavering belief: Great cattle begin with great cows. Founded in 1996 by Larry and Dee Coleman, the operation has earned a reputation as one of the nation’s premier sources for maternal Angus genetics.
Rather than chasing the latest industry trends, Coleman Angus has remained committed to a philosophy centered on productivity, fertility, longevity and structural soundness. Every breeding decision begins with the cow herd, where generations of proven maternal genetics have created cattle designed to excel in real-world commercial environments.
“From Day 1, our philosophy was simple: Build around the mama cow,” says Jeremy Haag. “Every decision is made with hardworking commercial cattlemen in mind, and that commitment guides our program today.”
That maternal focus has helped establish Coleman Angus as one of the nation’s leading $M programs. The ranch emphasizes practical, measurable traits including fertility, calving intervals, udder quality, longevity and production records — qualities that translate into profitable, efficient cow herds for commercial producers.
The Coleman team believes the true measure of success is found in the performance of cattle long after they leave the ranch. Their goal is to produce bulls that sire productive replacement females while adding the performance and consistency today’s commercial cattlemen demand.
Coleman Angus welcomes visitors to the ranch at Charlo, Mont., where customers can experience firsthand the program’s commitment to maternal excellence and customer relationships.
Coleman Angus hosts their female sale the second Tuesday in October, and their bull sale the third Tuesday in February.
