Gizmos & Gadgets
Products and services for the farm and ranch.
March 18, 2026
This month’s edition of “Gizmos & Gadgets” features a new herbicide that targets invasive species, a new advanced strip tillage system and seedbed maker, a self-propelled baler and a seed management platform that uses artificial intelligence to make recommendations.
Invasive species herbicide
Envu has announced the introduction of Marshal™ Imazapic herbicide, a new product in their growing range and pasture portfolio. Marshal Imazapic, featuring the active ingredient imazapic, targets invasive annual grasses, which are prevalent in the Western United States. Tank-mixing the new herbicide with existing Envu herbicide Rejuvra® gives ranchers and landowners a more flexible application window.
Currently, the only imazapic-activated product labeled to combat medusahead, Marshal Imazapic can be used for pre- and postemergence control of a wide variety of invasive species and problem weeds, including these invasive species:
- bulbous bluegrass,
- cheatgrass,
- feral rye,
- Japanese brome,
- jointed goatgrass,
- medusahead,
- red brome, and
- ventenata.

Advanced tillage system
Designed from the ground up, the Case IH Nutri-Tiller 1000 series is an agronomically correct strip-till tool that offers growers another advanced tillage system from Case IH to meet their tillage needs. The optimized strip supports consistent soil temperature and moisture at planting, promoting strong, early and uniform emergence for greater yield potential. With fewer field passes, integrated in-cab row unit settings, and best-in-class blade durability, the Case IH Nutri-Tiller series is another cost-efficient way to manage the seedbed and maximize yields.
A robust new row-unit design creates the perfect seedbed, giving crops the best start. It is engineered to preserve soil structure, improve seed-to-soil contact, and reduce erosion. Integrated in-cab controls put all adjustments at your fingertips from the comfort of your cab.
The row unit is engineered with a completely maintenance-free design. Operators gain consistent performance without daily maintenance, reducing downtime and simplifying overall upkeep.

Self-propelled baler
Vermeer self-propelled balers bring speed, maneuverability and operator comfort to the haymaking process. Baling automation completes the bale process with one push of a button and lets operators make real-time adjustments based on field, crop and operator inputs.
The cab is uniquely positioned over a patent-pending suspension system for a smoother, more comfortable ride. In the cab, wide-field visibility and a camera system let operators view bale formation — from the intake to bale ejection — without turning, reducing operator fatigue. Go from windrow to windrow or navigate narrow fields with zero-turn capabilities, and rally from field to field at transport speeds of 30+ mph.
Vermeer self-propelled baler
Control is at the fingertips with the monitor in the ZR-4S self-propelled baler. View and keep track of real-time statistics including bearing temperature, average moisture, bale weight and bales per hour. Adjust bale shape, net tension and density without ever leaving the cab.
