Products and services for the farm and ranch.
June 18, 2026
This month’s edition of “Gizmos and Gadgets” features a growth implant for calves in a drylot situation, a trap for feral hogs, a one-and-done piece of machinery that loads and hauls loose material, and new options for a midsize tractor.
Growth implant for calves in drylot
Zoetis has received an expanded label approval from the FDA’s Center for Veterinary Medicine (CVM) for Synovex® One Grower for increased rate of weight gain for up to 200 days in growing beef steers and heifers in a drylot.
“This approval gives drylot cattle producers a long-acting implant option to support longer-term drylot periods, whether in confinement or on pasture with insufficient forage quality/yield. As one of only three implants containing trenbolone acetate (TBA) approved for drylot production, it supports additional weight gain for up to 200 days in growing beef steers and heifers when paired with proper nutrition.” says Jase Ball, associate director of global clinical research and development at Zoetis.
Effective immediately, existing packages of Synovex One Grower can be used in the drylot production phase. Animal health product suppliers and cattle producers will begin seeing packaging for Synovex One Grower with the updated indications by the end of 2026.

Feral hog trap
The Boarbuster is the smarter way to eliminate feral hogs — eliminating the whole sounder (herd) in one drop, according to WW Manufacturing.
Feral hogs root up fields, destroy fences, foul water sources and compete with livestock for feed. A sounder of 20-30 hogs can root out and destroy an entire field of crops in a single night. They reproduce faster than almost any other large mammal, which means trapping individuals one at a time barely makes a dent. To actually reduce a population, you have to catch the entire family group at once.
The BoarBuster is built specifically for that. A large corral-style trap with a cellular-enabled drop gate, it lets you monitor a bait site remotely from your smartphone and trigger the drop the moment the whole group is inside. No more spooking the sounder by approaching the trap too early. No more dominant boar learning to avoid the entrance. You wait until they’re all in, then you drop the gate.
