Built for Tomorrow
Our responsibility is not just to preserve what we’ve inherited, but to leave it better than we found it.

When people hear the phrase “built for tomorrow,” they often think about the next generation of genetics and technology. While those things are important, I believe tomorrow is built by the people who are willing to invest in others today.
As a sixth-generation farmer, I learned early that every decision matters. The cattle we breed, the land we care for, and the reputation we build are all investments in the future. Each generation has worked to leave our operation stronger than they found it, and now it’s our responsibility to continue that tradition.
The Angus breed has always been known for adapting while staying true to the values that built it. From improved genetics to better management practices and new ways to connect with consumers, our industry continues to evolve. One thing hasn’t changed about this breed — people remain our greatest investment.
Through the National Junior Angus Association (NJAA), I’ve had the opportunity to meet young people from across the country who share the same passion for agriculture. These experiences have shown me that leadership isn’t about holding a title.
It’s about encouraging others, serving where you’re needed and creating opportunities for those who come after you. Every conversation, mentorship and friendship helps strengthen the future of our association and our breed.
As our industry faces new challenges, from changing consumer expectations to increasing pressure on agricultural land, it’s more important than ever to develop leaders who are willing to advocate for agriculture. The future of the Angus breed depends not only on producing quality cattle, but also on raising individuals who understand the value of integrity, hard work and service.
Being built for tomorrow doesn’t happen overnight. It happens through long days in the barn, lessons learned in the show ring, leadership experiences that push us outside our comfort zones and mentors who believe in us before we believe in ourselves. Those moments shape us into people who are prepared to lead our operations, our communities and our industry.
The future of Angus is bright because of the people who choose to invest in it every day. Whether you’re helping a first-time exhibitor, improving your herd or simply sharing your passion for agriculture with someone outside our industry, you’re helping build tomorrow.
Our responsibility is not just to preserve what we’ve inherited, but to leave it better than we found it. If we continue investing in our cattle, our land and, most importantly, our people, the Angus breed will remain strong for generations to come. That’s what it truly means to be built for tomorrow.
