The American Angus Association invites you to discuss the questions on every cattleman’s mind, together, at the 2026 Angus Convention in Louisville, Ky., Nov. 13-16.  

Forward, together

Each fall, Angus breeders gather, enjoy fellowship, discuss shared challenges and shape a vision for the breed’s future through conversations and educational sessions at convention. This year’s main stage events kick off Friday afternoon with a dynamic panel discussions focused on advancing profitability for Angus breeders and their commercial customers. 

“Sessions will bring together voices from across the industry, adding insight and perspective from links throughout the supply chain,” says Mark McCully, CEO of the American Angus Association. “We want these sessions to spark conversations among breeders, commercial customers and industry partners as members consider what success looks like in their operation.” 

Forward-looking sessions continue through the weekend — tackling topics including the next big challenge in data collection during the Genetic Symposium sponsored by Neogen. Dan Shike of the University of Illinois will join Angus Genetics Inc. (AGI) President Kelli Retallick-Riley and Board members for a panel discussion on efforts to capture new datasets at scale outside seedstock environments and the opportunities Angus has to lead these efforts. 

Main stage sessions conclude Monday morning ahead of the 143rd Convention of Delegates with live polling and panel conversation. The session connects perspectives discussed throughout the convention and gives members a voice to weigh in on key topics shaping the Angus business. 

Outside the sessions, Angus producers can connect with innovative industry partners during the second annual Industry Showcase. Companies offering a range of services from technology and genetics to marketing will be on hand to discuss solutions to your challenges.

“In 2025 we transitioned our large-scale trade show to an industry showcase,” says Caitlyn Brandt, director of events and junior activities for the Association. “This format maintains the space for meaningful connection with industry partners while allowing us to host attendees in one hotel-event venue.”

Driving business

All Association members are invited to attend the Convention of Delegates, which serves as the platform to conduct annual Association business including reports from the president, CEO and treasurer, and the election of new members and officers to the Board of Directors.

The Association’s more than 21,000 members are represented at the annual meeting by members elected as voting delegates. In late August, following the close of the delegate voting period, a complete list of elected delegates and alternates will be available on Angus.org. Members who have declared their candidacy for the Board by Aug. 1 will be included in the October issue of the Angus Journal and online following publishing.

Connecting events

This year’s location in downtown Louisville allows for connection to transpire beyond the conference rooms of the hotel. The convention schedule has been adjusted to weave together educational sessions, networking and Association business with Angus events at the North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE). Convention attendees will have the opportunity to watch the Junior Angus Show on Sunday, Nov. 15, and can opt to stay for the Super-point Roll of Victory (ROV) Angus Show Tuesday, Nov. 17.

This year, The Business Breed also has the honor of celebrating the induction of Angus breeder Paul Hill into the Saddle & Sirloin Portrait Gallery. The induction ceremony dinner and portrait presentation will take place on the NAILE grounds Sunday evening.
