Parent Match for Seedstock Tests Now Fully Active
Upgraded parent qualification services offered by Angus Genetics, Inc.

American Angus Association members ordering Angus GS or HD 50K through Angus Genetics, Inc. (AGI®) this spring have access to a new, streamlined parent qualification service, Parent MatchSM. This is included at no additional cost to customers when they test.
Initial phases of the system were online in January 2026, but now the system is fully launched, says Kayla Wookey, AGI customer service team lead.
“It’s a win to be able to improve our customers’ experiences with testing, as they access valuable information about their herd,” she explains. “We see this update as a way to save members some time. If an animal’s reported parents don’t match the test results, you’ll automatically see what Parent Match found.”
Wookey says for registered animals — distinguished on results by “AAA” — or Beef Improvement Record (BIR) animals tested, Parent Match improves parentage qualification by using a larger set of DNA markers, which are only available through genomic profiles. That means the service is not available with standalone parentage tests.
What to expect in AAA Login
Once Angus GS or HD 50K results are available, qualified matches will be displayed on the DNA results page in AAA Login. Each parent will now show one of the following statuses:
- Excluded: The provided parent(s) did not match the animal.
- Qualified: Parent recorded in Calving Book matched the animal.
- Parent Qualified by Parent Match: A different parent than the one provided by the member was found to match, based on results of the Parent Match system.
- Contact Office: Conflicts exist in the results; member should speak with an AGI Customer Service Representative.
- No SNP DNA on File: The reported parent does not have SNP DNA on file with the
Association.
If one or both reported parents do not match, the animal will appear on the Animals with Excluded Parentage page within Login.
Members are responsible for verifying animals marked as “Parent Qualified by Parent MatchSM” against their herd records to ensure accuracy. This is specifically to prevent errors such as sample issues or an embryo transfer (ET) conflict.
By registering an animal with a Parent Qualified by Parent Match, the member is agreeing that the discovered parents are true and accurate. Parent Match cannot account for individual animal ID or sample swaps at the farm/ranch level.
For registered animals, AGI will offer a discovered parent through the “Animals with excluded DNA parentage” tab in AAA Login. Next, a member will click the pencil and paper icon under “Parent Match Approval.” This opens a registration correction screen with the new parent(s) automatically populated. After reviewing the information, the correction can be added to a member’s cart.
Wookey reminds members to be sure and check out to complete the correction submission, and that cart totals are estimates based on the corrections selected. If an animal is corrected to an ET, the $10 ET fee will be applied.
For BIR animals, AGI will use the Parent Match technology to provide potential parentage on those animals who cancel the reported sire or dam.
There is no fee associated with corrections for BIR animals. One business day after a BIR correction is sent in, assuming it is approved, the animal can be submitted with EZ registration.
Additional information about pricing for registration correction is available in AAA Login, and step-by-step instructions for the Parent Match approval process are available in a video released in April on Angus TV.
