A Moment in Time: What a Difference It Can Make
In 1909, a humble decision in Hershey, Pa., changed countless lives.

Milton S. Hershey, once a poor Mennonite farm boy with only a fourth-grade education, had faced failure after failure in the candy business. But he persevered.
After selling a successful caramel company, he turned his attention to chocolate — combining boiled milk, sugar and cacao beans to create an affordable treat that would become a global icon.
Yet Hershey’s greatest legacy wasn’t chocolate. It was children.
Unable to have children of his own, Milton and his wife, Catherine, opened the Hershey Industrial School for orphaned boys. In 1918, he endowed nearly all of his fortune to what is now the Milton Hershey School, which today annually serves nearly 2,000 students from low-income families, offering free board and a world-class education.
His story reminds us: a single moment of generosity can echo for generations.
At the Angus Foundation, we see this truth every day. Each scholarship awarded, each leadership opportunity funded, each research initiative supported — these are moments that shape futures. They’re made possible by donors who, like Hershey, believe in the power of giving.
This December we invite you to create your own moment. Whether through a gift to our Legacy Sustaining campaign, a named scholarship, or a simple act of kindness, your generosity can make all the difference.
Because when you invest in youth, you invest in legacy.

We at the Angus Foundation hope you have a wonderful
holiday season with your loved ones!
