Angus Foundation Raises More Than $37,000 at 2025 Angus Convention

The Angus family supports efforts through auction and raffle.

A historic bronze bull statue casted by Jim Reno, modeled after VDAR New Trend 315 was auctioned off by Colonel Jordan Hunter and sold to Terry Edmonson, Bear Hill Cattle Company of Dade City, Florida for $10,500.00 at the 2025 Angus Convention.

The Angus Foundation celebrated another successful fundraising effort during the 2025 Angus Convention in Kansas City, Mo. Through the annual Awards Dinner Auction and Foundation Raffle, supporters raised $37,320, helping advance the Foundation’s mission of education, youth and research. 

The live auction featured unique Angus-themed items that drew spirited bidding from the audience. Highlights included: 

  • Historic Angus Bull Bronze — Cast by renowned artist Jim Reno and modeled after VDAR New Trend 315, this piece sold for $10,500 to Terry Edmonson of Bear Hill Cattle Company, Dade City, Fla. 
  • Two Framed Vintage Bull Ads  “Worth More” and “Earning Power” prints brought $8,000 and $9,000, respectively, with buyers showing strong interest in these Angus artifacts. Buyers included Terry Edmonson of Bear Hill Cattle Company, Dade City, Fla., and Barry White of Auburn, Ga.  
  • Barbed Wire Display donated by Galen and Lori Fink - After being spotted during the National Angus Tour, this last-minute addition to the sale order added an exciting energy to the auction. This unique offering sold for $5,000 to Eugene and Carol Shuffler of Union Grove, N.C. 

“Every dollar raised during the Convention directly supports programs like the LEAD Conference, Raising the Bar and Beef Leaders Institute,” said Jaclyn Boester, Angus Foundation executive director. “We are grateful for the breeders, sponsors and supporters who continue to invest in the future of the Angus breed.” 

In addition to the auction, the Foundation raffle offered exciting prizes donated by generous industry partners, including CRV, Halter HQ, AgriBest Feeds, Slate Group and Purina. Raffle ticket sales totaled $4,820, with items ranging from custom Angus apparel to livestock feed packages. 

Prize winners include:  

  • 10 Straws of CRV Angus Semen — Doug Schroeder, Schroeder Angus of Clarence, Iowa 
  • 20 Custom Embroidery Hats donated by Slate Group  Joy Baldwin, Baldwin Angus Ranch of Ocala, Fla. 
  • AgriBest Feed Package  Todd Hermel, of Saint Joseph, Mo. 
  • Halter HQ Swag Package  Doug Schroeder, Schroeder Angus of Clarence, Iowa 
  • 1 Skid of Procycle CX8 Tubs from Purina  Doug Velisek, PDV Angus of Fairplay, Md. 

“Every raffle ticket sold creates opportunities and experiences for juniors within the NJAA,” said Grant Solem, Foundation Director, National Junior Angus Association Board. “It is great to see the breed’s supporters come together to support the NJAA.”
