How to Get the Most Out of LEAD

If you are a junior member attending the Leaders Engaged in Angus Development (LEAD) conference, regardless of how many times you have been previously, it is important to get the most out of all the experiences available to you. This year we are lucky enough to explore our nation’s capital and learn about its rich history when we take on Washington, D.C., Aug. 5-8. Like many of you, I will be in Washington, D.C., for the first time and am so glad I get to share this experience with my Angus family.

There are so many different experiences waiting for you wherever the conference may lead. From entertainment, events and workshops to numerous tours, ranging from Whitestone Farm to the National Mall, there is something for everyone.

There will be chances for exploration and adventure, but also times for connection. The important part is to take those chances and opportunities available to you, and be receptive to new and exciting experiences that await you at LEAD; I know I am.

LEAD is an opportunity for people who share the same passion for Angus cattle to connect through these exciting opportunities. I encourage you all to engage with one another as the people you meet at these conferences can lead to lifelong friendships and connections. These connections can only happen if you are open to them.

During our time in our nation’s capital, we are actively representing the National Junior Angus Association (NJAA), hence it is important to treat the monuments and exhibits we visit with respect and mindfulness as members of the association. Bring your walking shoes and a smile.

Whether you spend LEAD catching up with friends you only see a few times a year or creating new relationships that will last a lifetime, I know this year’s LEAD will be unforgettable and bring memories you will cherish forever.

Grab your camera, because adventure awaits in D.C.
