Blake Pillars - Events Insider

Welcome to the Events Corner! I’m excited to share a preview of some of the fun and impactful events coming your way in 2026, including Raising the Bar and LEAD. First and foremost, I hope everyone is having a great year, and that next year is even better. The National Junior Angus Board is committed to putting juniors first, and we’re working hard to bring fresh ideas and meaningful opportunities to the table.

Raising the Bar: Cyclone Nation Bound

Spring is just around the corner, and we’re headed to Iowa State University from April 9 – 12, 2026.  Get ready for an action-packed few days exploring campus highlights like Kildee Hall, the meat laboratory and the veterinary department. We’ll also sit down with representatives from the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association and tour local Angus operations, including Hoover Angus.

One of my favorite parts of Raising the Bar is giving juniors the chance to experience a college campus firsthand. It’s a great opportunity to connect with professors and students, ask questions and gain insight into college life.

LEAD 2026: Sunshine State Adventure

Drumroll, please... LEAD 2026 is heading to Orlando, Florida! Pack your sunglasses and sunscreen, it’s going to be a wild and magical ride. As this year’s Events Director, I’ve had a blast planning this experience in such a vibrant city. Highlights will include a visit to a citrus farm and a tour of the largest cow-calf operation in the United States. We’ve got more surprises in store, but we don’t want to spoil everything just yet!

My hope for LEAD attendees is that you build lasting friendships and gain a new perspective on agriculture. Exploring a region that’s unfamiliar to many of us will offer valuable insight into the diversity of our industry.

Looking Ahead

The NJAA Board is thrilled to bring you these exciting events in 2026. We’re focused on creating experiences that reflect your interests and help you grow, both personally and professionally. Don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or ideas for future events. As always, be safe, have fun and live a little!
