Fred Francis

Inducted 2007

Francis coined the term “Pathfinder”, as an architect of the Angus Herd Improvement Records program. Raised on a livestock farm near Joliet, Ill., he founded the Illinois and Chicagoland Angus associations in 1950. Francis worked for the American Angus Association as a part-time classifier in 1958, breed improvement specialist in 1968, and director of breed improvement in 1974.
