Giving back to the breed, which has provided a livelihood to their family for decades, is a task that Bill & Barbara Rishel have mastered. The North Platte, Neb., couple has been raising Angus cattle since the 1960s, and they are leaders in performance testing and providing service to their customers. In addition to raising top carcass sires, the Rishels have also vested an interest in the future of the breed-its youth. The have donated the 2006 Angus Foundation Heifer, which sells in January, with proceeds going to the Angus Foundation. Bill served on the association’s board of directors from 1990-96.
