Clarence Hillman
Inducted 2000
Clarence Hillman lived Angus cattle, enjoyed Angus people and believed the customer was always right. He and his father started their registered Angus herd in 1918. After 10 years of using registered Angus bulls, they decided that purebred Angus would be superior to the crossbred cattle. In 1930, he and his wife Alice established Bon View Farms near Canova, S.D. Clarence was a life-long supporter of registered Angus cattle. During tough times when many let their registration papers lapse, the Hillmans made sure their cattle were registered. Bon View Farms enrolled in the Association’s Angus Herd Improvement Records (AHIR) program in 1968. They showed many champions at the regional and national levels.
