She and her husband, Henry M. Chitty, established Stardust Ranch in 1945 near Gainesville, Fla. Was one of the first women to receive an animal science degree from the University of Florida, and then went on to teach agriculture. Chitty was among the first to keep performance records and served as a director to the Florida Angus Association and Florida beef Cattle Improvement Association.
