Data Driven Herd Deadline Approaching
Data submitted and processed by July 31 will count towards 2026 recognition.
July 21, 2026
The Data Driven Herd program recognizes herds committed to the collection and submission of data on multiple traits to AHIR® to help better characterize phenotypes in both their herd and the Angus breed. Launched in 2025, the program also serves as a way for Angus breeders to communicate that commitment to customers and fellow breeders. American Angus Association® members who are enrolled in Inventory Reporting and meet trait requirements will have access to the corresponding Data Driven Herd Gold, Silver or Bronze logo for marketing use and will be recognized at Angus Convention and on Angus.org.
“We talk a lot about the fact that our database is the greatest, most valuable tool that we have,” says Paul Bennett, chair of the Association’s Breed Improvement Committee. “Now we can recognize breeders that are focused on breed improvement and doing the things that they need to do to improve the quality of the genetics that they're creating for the Angus Breed.”
Members interested in earning 2026 Data Driven Herd recognition will need to submit all data before the July 31st deadline – allowing time for the Association to process the data and resolve suspense items before the deadline. Data submitted between August 1, 2025, and July 31, 2026, will count towards 2026 recognition. Progress towards Gold, Silver and Bronze can be tracked using the personalized Data Driven Herd dashboard in AAA Login. Members can find the dashboard by clicking on the green button within the AHIR box on the home page of Login. Additional program requirements are available under the AHIR section of Angus.org.
