Transition to Paperless Billing Nears
Member business will move to paperless preferences on June 25th.
June 17, 2026
The American Angus Association® Member Services team is preparing for the switch to paperless billing and suspense letters which will take effect on June 25, 2026. The transition will serve members in a timelier manner and ensure the responsible use and allocation of member dollars.
Today, billing statements, invoices and suspense letters account for one of the largest, collective uses of paper within the Member Services department. Broken down, in an average year, the team sends out:
~ 11,000 Billing Statements by Mail
~23,000 Invoices by Mail
~ 38,000 Suspense Letters by Mail
When you tally that up, it's nearly 72,000 printed items. The integration of email and online management systems into daily life offers the opportunity to continue to reduce the amount of paper used by the Association and deliver important billing communication more efficiently.
Who will be transitioned?
All memberships with an email on file and an AAA Login account will be switched to paperless, including invoicing and suspense letters. This change includes all business conducted with the Association, AGI® and AngusMedia℠ (API). This switch doesn’t include registration papers. Electronically storing registration papers remains an optional service.
What to expect
No action is required from members who wish to proceed with the transition. Starting on June 25, members will be emailed invoices and statements when a balance remains on the account. A notice will also appear in AAA Login Announcements and Notifications. Members will be able to view and pay their balance online in Login by going to My Account>Pay Your Balance. Members can also print the invoice from the email or Pay Your Balance section of Login to mail their payment.
Access business history
Regardless of current paperless preferences, members can access a history of business conducted with the Association and its entities in their Login account. Work history for the Association and AGI can be found under My Account>Account History – Association while Angus Media work can be found under My Account>Account History – Angus Media.
Manage suspense items
Additionally, suspense letters for Association work requiring additional or corrected information for processing will be emailed. Members will also be notified of items in suspense in the Login Message Center and can provide the necessary information in Login to move items out of suspense.
Suspense items are identified on the Account History – Association page in columns labeled “Susp.” By clicking on the File Number, members can view a detailed list of suspense items with clickable links to provide necessary information to process the work.
Update email and forward messages
Members are encouraged to log in into their Login account before June 25 to confirm the email on file is the preferred address for business notices. This can be found under My Account>My AAA Member Information. Members can request an email update using the comment box at the bottom of the page.
Forwarding can be set up to receive a copy of Message Center notices via text or email, which can be different than the primary email on the member account. To set up forwarding, members will need to open their Message Center in the upper right corner of their Login screen by clicking on the pink envelope, then click on View All Messages and select Notification Preferences.
How to Opt-Out of Paperless
Members who wish to continue to receive paper communication will be able to opt-out by contacting the Member Services team at angus@angus.org prior to June 25. Following the change, members can opt-out in Login under My Account>Billing Preferences or Report Preferences for suspense letters. There will be no additional fee for paper preferences.
Resources
Several resources have been created to help members transition to paperless billing and suspense letters. Guides are available as part of Angus University to walk members through the process.
As always, the Member Services team is available to help answer any questions and can be reached through the Login Message Center, by phone at (816)383-5100 or by email at angus@angus.org.
