Gain insights unique to your herd through Inventory Reporting
Enrollment for primarily fall-calving operations runs May 1 – July 15
May 1, 2026
Angus Herd Improvement Record’s Inventory Reporting program offers Angus producers an opportunity to track and improve maternal performance in their herds. Through the whole herd reporting program, you can leverage complete herd data to better track performance, improve EPD accuracy, ensure every female gets the credit she deserves and better communicate the value of your cattle to your customers. Enrollment in the program also offers you the opportunity to earn Data Driven Herd recognition, another way to communicate your commitment to data collection to your customers.
Enrolling and tracking a herd’s complete female inventory and reproductive performance allows Angus Herd Improvement Record (AHIR®) to generate additional reports for your herd. Inventory Reporting herds have access to Female Age Distribution and Genetic Trends reports.

With additional data provided in the program’s second tier, MaternalPlus®, herds can access even more reports – Production Performance, Weaning Sire Summary, Dam Disposal, Cow Condition and Calf Death Loss.

Herd insights from these reports give you, the breeder, new data insights to inform your management decisions. At the same time, the data submitted helps the American Angus Association continue to build and improve your selection tools.
Build a Better Breed Together
One such tool is the Functional Longevity (FL) EPD which was released last May. The FL EPD, which characterizes a female’s ability to stay in the herd and produce year over year, was built thanks to the commitment to whole herd reporting made by Angus breeders participating in the Inventory Reporting program.
Enroll & Put Your Data to Work
You can join the effort to improve maternal selection tools and reap the benefits of the program during one of two enrollment periods each year. For those who primarily calve in the fall, annual enrollment is open May 1 through July 15. Those who calve mainly in the spring should look to enroll between Nov. 1 and Jan. 15 each year.
Instead of paying $3 per calf, Inventory Reporting herds pay $2 per female annually and can submit her calf’s records as part of that fee. To get started, new herds will need to clean up herd inventory by marking females active or inactive using the wizard on the home page of AAA Login.
Re-enrolling herds will need to complete records on all females for 2025 and can do so through Login.
What You Need to Know
Herds enrolled in Inventory Reporting will need to submit one of the following on all active females by next July to complete the program.
- A calf (birth date, sex, dam)
- A reason code for why she didn’t have a calf to report
- A disposal code and date for the cow
Following the completion of your first year in the program, you are eligible to earn MaternalPlus® status by submitting the required data for Inventory Reporting plus heifer breeding data and weaning weights or disposal codes.
Herds who earn MaternalPlus®, will have the logo displayed on their enrolled females’ pedigree look-up and be able to use the logo for marketing. Breeders also receive the additional herd management reports mentioned above, see improved accuracy of the Heifer Pregnancy EPD and receive CED, BW, WW EPDs on unregistered calves, in the next calf crop, up to 12 months of age.
