Cutline: Adeline Tommell, Fonda, N.Y., has earned the National Junior Angus Association’s (NJAA) Bronze and Silver awards.
Adeline Tommell, Fonda, N.Y., has earned the National Junior Angus Association’s (NJAA) Bronze and Silver awards, according to Caitlyn Brandt, events and junior activities director of the American Angus Association® in Saint Joseph, Mo.
Tommell is the 19-year-old daughter of Marc and Nicole Tommell and attends Oklahoma State University where she is studying Agriculture Communications with a minor in Pre-Law. She is a member of the NJAA and the New York Junior Angus Association, where she has served as vice president.
She has participated in state, regional and national shows. At the National Junior Angus Show (NJAS), Tommell participated in the mentoring program in 2018 and 2019 and served as a voting delegate in 2021 and 2022. She also participated in the 2023 Leaders Engaged in Angus Development (LEAD) conference.
Tommell has submitted DNA samples for Genomic Profile Testing through Angus Genetics Inc. (AGI).
The Bronze and Silver awards are the first two levels of the NJAA Recognition Program that began in 1972. Junior Angus breeders must apply for the award, then meet point requirements in many areas of participation before receiving the honor. Applicants are evaluated in areas of junior Angus association activities and leadership, participation in showmanship, contests and shows, using performance testing to improve their herd and their progress in producing and merchandising Angus cattle.
