Angus Genetics Showcased at 2026 National Western Angus Pen and Carload Show

Angus producers competed for top honors during the 2026 National Western Stock Show (NWSS) Angus Pen & Carload Show, Jan. 18 in Denver, Colo. One carload and 26 pens-of-three were showcased in the Yards during the NWSS.

John Pfieffer, Mulhall, Okla.; Aaron Kiser, Proctor, Texas; and Joe Myers, Harrodsburg, Ky., evaluated the bulls and heifers before selecting champions.

Circle B, Albion, Neb., claimed grand champion carload with 10 February 2025 bulls and are sired by Basin Jameson 1076, Sterling Pacific 904, Williams Jonesboro 700-602, Crouch Congress and BAR Dynamic. The group weighed an average of 1,174 pounds and posted an average scrotal circumference of 32.2 centimeters.

Krebs Ranch, Gordon, Neb., showcased the grand champion pen of three bulls with January 2025 sons of 44 Faithful 2764, HF Nexus 208K and Connealy Surplus. The trio posted an average weight of 1,427 pounds and an average scrotal circumference of 39.7 centimeters. The bulls first won early calf champion.

Vollmer Angus Ranch, Wing, N.D., captured the reserve grand champion pen of three bulls after first claiming late calf champion. The March 2025 sons of Boyd Separation 3018 and Boyd Separation 3019 posted an average weight of 1,280 pounds and an average scrotal circumference of 38.3 centimeters.

Vision Angus, Amherst, Colo., showcased the grand champion pen of three heifers. The January and February 2025 daughters of Montana Judgement 1038 posted an average weight of 967 pounds. They first claimed early calf champion. 

Sadler Ranches, Perkins, Okla., captured the reserve grand champion pen of three heifers with January 2025 daughters of Sadler Hemisphere 2528 and Spring Cove Grant 200K. The trio posted an average weight of 963 pounds. They first won reserve early calf champion.
