Champions Selected at 2023 Kansas Junior Angus Show
Kansas junior Angus members led 108 entries at the 2023 Kansas Junior Angus Association Preview Show, June 3-4 in Hutchinson, Kan. Austin Vieselmeyer, Amherst, Colo., evaluated six bred-and-owned bulls, 51 owned females, 13 bred-and-owned females, 17 registered Angus steers and 21 phenotype and genotype females before choosing winners.
FFC McCurry Check Point 2005 was named grand champion bred-and-owned bull. Lauren Frederick, Hutchinson, Kan., owns the March 2022 son of S A V Checkmate 8158.
Mileah Backhus, Russell, Kan., led the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned bull. Backhus Greenie 303 is a July 2022 son of Silveiras Forbes 8088.
RW Saras Dream 207 won grand champion owned female. Jayce Dickerson, Paradise, Kan., owns the March 2022 daughter of PVF Blacklist 7077. She first won junior champion.
ROSE DRI Galaxie 2863 won reserve grand champion owned female. Claire Norris, Eudora, Kan., owns the March 2022 daughter of Collison Alpha 028. She first won reserve junior champion.
Checkerhill Saras Dream 180 claimed third overall champion owned female for Cohen Navinsky, Easton, Kan. A November 2021 daughter of Silveiras Style 9303 first claimed senior champion.
Broxton Navinsky, Easton, Kan., led the fourth overall champion owned female, MLA Proven Queen 2265. The June 2022 daughter of EXAR Blue Chip 1877B first won intermediate champion.
Muth Simply Forever 16K claimed fifth overall champion owned female for Cheyenne Brunker, Ottawa, Kan. The June 2022 daughter of SCC SCH 24 Karat 838 first claimed reserve intermediate champion.
Kelsey Theis, Leavenworth, Kan., led the grand champion bred-and-owned female. AVF Sara 6882 is an October 2022 daughter of STAG Good Times 201 ET. She first won senior calf champion.
AVF Blackcap 6802 was named reserve grand champion bred-and-owned female. Kelsey Theis owns the November 2022 daughter of PVF Marvel 9185. She first won reserve senior calf champion.
CDN Rosebud 2280 claimed third overall champion bred-and-owned female for Cohen Navinsky. The August 2022 daughter of May-Way Perfection 42H first claimed intermediate champion.
Jayce Dickerson led the fourth overall champion bred-and-owned female, Bar S Eilazane 2723. The May 2022 daughter of Silveiras Forbes 8088 first won reserve intermediate champion.
Hills Ann K01 MJ claimed fifth overall champion bred-and-owned female for Molly Hill, Baldwin City, Kan. The February 2022 daughter of May-Way Play It Safe first claimed junior champion.
Dal Porto Blackjack A24 claimed grand champion Angus steer. Eli Atkisson, Stockton, Kan., owns the April 2022 son of PVF Blacklist 7077.
Backhus Karat 202 was named grand reserve champion Angus steer. Mileah Backhus owns the May 2022 son of SCC SCH 24 Karat 838.
Agustus Laflin, Olsburg, Kan., showed the grand champion female in the phenotype and genotype portion of the show. Laflins Galaxie 2162 is the March 2022 daughter of Laflins Ax Handle 9741.
Molly Hill led the reserve grand champion female in the phenotype and genotype portion of the show. Hills Ann K01 MJ is the February 2022 daughter of May-Way Play It Safe.
