When it comes to unwavering dedication to the Angus breed and its future, Bob and Dana McClaren of 44 Farms in Cameron, Texas, stand as excellent examples. Since their first contribution to the Angus Foundation in 2007, the McClaren’s have continually committed to advancing education, youth and research, earning them recognition as Honorary Angus Foundation Inductees during the 2025 National Junior Angus Show in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  

“We are so honored to be named Honorary Angus Foundation inductees,” Bob McClaren said.  “This is a very big deal to us, and we are so humbled to be inductees. We are grateful to the Foundation for being included. We love Angus cattle, the Angus business, Angus beef, but most of all the great men and women that share the love for this Angus way of life.” 

Since 1909, the Little River bottom near Cameron, Texas, has been home to 44 Farms. Today, Bob and Dana carry on their family’s work on the same land where Bob’s great-great-grandparents, Sherwood "S.W." McClaren and his wife, Josie, started the operation.  

Alongside the success of their operation, they have worked to advance the mission of the Angus Foundation and the future of the Angus breed. From their early involvement in the Texas Challenge Campaign in 2008 to their recent support of the Legacy Sustaining Fund George Grant Challenge in 2023, McClaren’s have consistently answered the call to build and support the Foundation’s three pillars of education, youth and research. 

Over the years, their contributions to the Angus Foundation have been diverse; donating pregnancies, purchasing a Foundation Heifer Package, supporting the Brick Paver project where their names are forever engraved at the American Angus Association^® headquarters, and supporting fundraising events such as the BLACKONTRACK gala and the National Western Stock Show. Bob and Dana’s steadfast support has helped lay the steppingstones, both literally and figuratively, for the Foundation’s continued success. 

“Bob and Dana McClaren are especially deserving of this honor because they embody the spirit of stewardship, leadership, and generosity that defines the Angus Foundation’s mission,” said Jaclyn Boester, executive director of the Angus Foundation. “Their contributions have not only advanced the breed but also empowered countless individuals through education and opportunity. Their legacy is one of vision and support for the Angus family.” 

Beyond their charitable contributions, the McClarens are champions of the beef industry. Through 44 Farms, and their Prime Pursuits Program in association with Walmart, 44 Farms has worked to better the beef industry, promote sustainable initiatives, and empower farmers and ranchers. Their passion lies in carrying on a family legacy, building a lasting impact on the beef industry, strengthening the Angus breed and supporting the people who make up the Angus family.  

“All the pillars of the Foundation’s mission are very important and worthy of support,” McClaren said. “We believe that being ahead in research will greatly benefit our youth and increase educational opportunities.”
