Angus producers competed for top honors during the 2026 Cattlemen’s Congress Angus Pen & Carload Show, Jan. 9 in Oklahoma City, Okla. Two carloads and 15 pens-of-three were showcased.
Brian Barragree, Absarokee, Mont.; Jeremy Leister, Fairmont, Okla.; and Doug Schroeder, Clarence, Iowa, evaluated the bulls and heifers before selecting champions.
Express Angus Ranches, Yukon, Okla., claimed grand champion carload, with eight January 2025 bulls sired by RSA True Balance 1311, Crouch Congress and FF Rito Ambitious. The group weighed an average of 1,511 pounds and posted an average scrotal circumference of 41.13 centimeters. The bulls first claimed calf champion.
Deer Valley Farm, Fayetteville, Tenn., exhibited the reserve grand champion carload, with eight August and September 2024 bulls sired by Connealy Craftsman, Williams Hollywood 700-380, GAR Fireproof, EXAR Cover The Bases 0819B and Virginia Tech Statesman. The bulls posted an average weight of 1,616 pounds and an average scrotal circumference of 38.9 centimeters. The bulls first claimed yearling champion.
Express Angus Ranches showcased the grand champion pen of three bulls with September 2024 sons of FF Rito Ambitious and EXAR Cover The Bases 0819B. The trio posted an average weight of 1,799 pounds and an average scrotal circumference of 40.7 centimeters. The bulls first won yearling champion.
Express Angus Ranches also captured the reserve grand champion pen of three bulls after first claiming early calf champion. The January 2025 sons of BA7 Oaks Bold Ruler, EXAR Cover The Bases 0819B and FF Rito Ambitious posted an average weight of 1,447 pounds and an average scrotal circumference of 40.0 centimeters.
Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Okla., captured the grand champion pen of three heifers. February 2025 daughters of FF Rito Ambitious and Connealy Commerce posted an average weight of 942 pounds. They first claimed early calf champion.
Oklahoma State University also captured the reserve grand champion pen of three heifers after first winning reserve early calf champion. The December 2024 and January 2025 daughters of Connealy Commerce and HPCA Veracious posted an average weight of 1,037 pounds.
