Florida Farm Recognized as a Historic Angus Herd

Clover Hills Angus Farm has been home to Angus cattle for more than 50 years.

Larry Weaver, and his wife, Karen, established Clover Hills Angus Farm in 1973. Their herd started in Cloverdale, Ind., where it remained for many years before moving to its current location in New Smyrna Beach, Fla.

The Weavers chose the Angus breed for its extreme popularity and high demand. In 1973, the Weavers started their herd with the purchase of Super Marshall, grand champion at the Indiana Angus Futurity. Then in 1975, they added the bull Kalamal Lancelot 37, international reserve grand champion at Chicago, grand champion at the Canadian Royal and a Golden Certified Meat Sire to their herd.

“We place great emphasis on the selection of our herd bulls,” stated Larry, in one of his sale books.

The Weavers have been extremely successful in selecting and producing quality Angus cattle over the years. This success has earned them several awards and national recognition at many cattle shows.

The Weavers still reside on their farm in Florida, where Larry continues to manage their herd of 50 cows.

The American Angus Associations Historic Angus Herd Award recognizes Angus breeders and immediate families who have been in continuous production of registered-Angus cattle for 50 years or more. Visit www.angus.org for more information or to view a list of awarded members since the program began in 1988.
