Juniors Exhibit Champions at 2023 Western Regional Junior Angus Show
Junior Angus members traveled to Reno, Nev., to compete in the 2023 Western Regional Junior Angus Show, April 7. Ashley Judge, Loveland, Colo., evaluated the 104 owned females, 19 bred-and-owned females, 12 bred-and-owned bulls, five cow-calf pairs and eight steers. Clint Sexton, Stanfield, Ore., evaluated the 17 phenotype and genotype females before selecting champions.
KayLee Langford, Breckenridge, Texas, showed the grand champion owned female that also claimed junior calf champion – division 3. UDE Queen Ruth 2001 is a January 2022 daughter of KR Casino 6243.
PVF Lucy 1056 captured reserve grand champion owned female. Braxton Cole, Lockney, Texas, showed the April 2021 daughter of PVF Marvel 9185 that first won junior champion.
Kasey Meyer, Blue Hill, Neb., led the grand champion bred-and-owned female, KLM Sandy 2282. The April 2022 daughter of Silveiras Forbes 8088 first won junior heifer calf champion.
McCoy BB Sriracha 251-9961 won reserve grand champion bred-and-owned female for Taylor Olson, La Grande, Ore. She’s the September 2022 daughter of Gateway Follow Me F163 and first won fall calf champion.
Hurlbuts The Rock 2270 received grand champion bred-and-owned bull for Bayler Hurlbut, Raymond, S.D. He is the April 2022 son of SCC SCH 24 Karat 838 and first won junior calf champion.
Kasey Meyer showed the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned bull. 4M Platinum 242 is a January 2022 son of SCC SCH 24 Karat 838 and first claimed reserve junior calf champion.
Taylor Olson led the grand champion cow-calf pair. McCoy Blackbird 99691-5523 is the September 2019 daughter of Leachman Saugahatchee 3000C. Her September 2022 heifer calf sired by Gateway Follow Me F163 is at side.
Jonwyn Ayres, Powers, Ore., led the reserve grand champion cow-calf pair. Ayres Adele Eline 6480 is the May 2020 daughter of J&J Weigh Up 294. An August 2022 heifer calf sired by Ayres Montana Upgrade 248 is at side.
McCoy Follow Me 201-8801 received grand champion steer honors for Taylor Olson. He is the January 2022 son of Gateway Follow Me F163.
Anthony Rossotti, Petaluma, Calif., showed the reserve grand champion steer. 3NL Andy’s Prime 1418 2201 is a March 2022 son of Colburn Primo 5153.
Rylan Dodge, Pendleton, Ore., showed the grand champion female in the phenotype and genotype portion of the show. LCC Polly 213 is the March 2022 daughter of PVF Blacklist 7077 and first won division 2 champion.
Alexa Alto, Arcata, Calif., led the reserve grand champion female in the phenotype and genotype portion of the show. DPL Sandy 2552 is the April 2022 daughter of Connealy Emerald. She first claimed reserve division 2 champion.
