Juniors led Angus champions at the 2023 MAJAC
Junior Angus exhibitors led 184 entries at the 2023 Mid-Atlantic Junior Angus Classic (MAJAC) Regional Preview Show, March 11-12 in Harrisonburg, Va. Tim Fitzgerald, Sullivan, Ind., evaluated the 98 owned females, 36 bred-and-owned females, 30 steers, 13 bred-and-owned steers, four bred-and-owned bulls, three cow-calf pairs and 74 Angus-based crossbred steers.
Kolton Grim, Thomasville, Pa., led the grand champion bred-and-owned bull. Beaver Creek Atlantis H2211 is a February 2022 son of Square B Atlantis 8060. He first won junior champion.
AED Davidson 231K won the title of reserve grand champion bred-and-owned bull. Allison Davis, Shelbyville, Tenn., owns the October 2022 son of Stevenson Turning Point. He first won senior calf champion.
Madison Stratton, Appomattox, Va., led the grand champion bred-and-owned female. EGF Proven Queen 210 is a March 2022 daughter of SCC SCH 24 Karat 838. She earlier won junior champion.
Suter Clark, Gretna, Va., showed the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned female. Clarkboys SR Sandy 2090 is a May 2022 daughter of SCC SCH 24 Karat 838. She first won intermediate champion.
SCC CB Phyllis 1114 won grand champion owned female after claiming senior champion. Ella Brooks, Prophetstown, Ill., owns the November 2021 daughter of Colburn Primo 5153.
Suter Clark showed the reserve grand champion owned female. SCC SFC Phyllis 215 is a January 2022 daughter of SCC SCH 24 Karat 838. She first won junior champion – division 3.
AED Rita 037H won grand champion cow-calf pair. Allison Davis owns the December 2020 daughter of PVF Blacklist 7077. An October 2022 bull calf sired by Stevenson Turning Point completes the winning pair.
Quincy Clayton, Staunton, Va., showed the reserve grand champion cow-calf pair. QCC Skymere 912 is the September 2019 daughter of Conley Express 7211. A September 2022 heifer calf sired by S&R Roundtable J328 is at side.
Blair Heath, Cooksville, Md., led the grand champion steer. Burns Fireball 2252 is an April 2022 son of SCC SCH 24 Karat 838.
Bryce Heath, Keymar, Md., showed the reserve grand champion steer. Triple N Blacklist 316 is an April 2022 son of PVF Blacklist 7077.
Lindsey Grim, Dover, Pa., showed the grand champion bred-and-owned steer. Shady Dell Black Onyx 48 is an April 2022 son of B C A Flawless 119.
Ella Michael, Fishersville, Va., led the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned steer. CCF Leonard 622 is a June 2022 son of Conley Express 7211.
