Angus Champions Selected at 2023 Iowa State Fair
Angus entries competed for top honors at the 2023 Iowa State Fair Angus Show, August 15 in Des Moines, Iowa. Harlan Yocham, Sapulpa, Okla., evaluated the 132 entries, which included 105 females, 23 bulls and four cow-calf pairs.
Hartz Avenger 05 8685 claimed grand champion bull honors. Elsie Rogers, Wilton, Iowa, and Klemp Cattle Co., Iowa City, Iowa, own the December 2021 son of Laflins Marvel 1801. He first claimed senior champion and Iowa bred champion.
Jensen Lights Out 189 of FAF was named reserve grand champion bull. Roeder Family Farms, Stewartville, Minn., and Cale Jensen, Plainfield, Iowa, own the October 2021 son of DAJS Special Effects 044 that earlier won reserve senior champion.
BOY Sandy 244K captured grand champion female and junior champion for Carleigh Tobey, Charlotte, Iowa. She is a February 2022 daughter of SSF On Point 4028. She also won Iowa bred champion.
Jillan Moffitt, Colfax, Iowa, claimed reserve grand champion female. DS Blackbird 213 is a November 2022 daughter of Silveiras Style 9303 and first won senior calf champion.
Kendall Bullerman, Adrian, Minn., owns the grand champion cow-calf pair. PVF Blackbird 0141 is a September 2020 daughter of PVF Blacklist 7077. A January 2023 heifer calf sired by Bullerman Easy Money 1048 completes the winning pair.
Sarah Cody, Corning, Iowa, owns the reserve grand champion cow-calf pair. CJ Grace Viola is a January 2019 daughter of Greene Pokerface 1304. An April 2023 bull calf sired by GCC Money Earned 852E ET is at side.
