Juniors led Angus champions at 2022 MAJAC
Junior Angus exhibitors led 288 entries at the 2022 Mid-Atlantic Junior Angus Classic (MAJAC) Regional Preview Show, March 12-13 in Harrisonburg, Va. Randy Mullinix, Toulan, Ill., evaluated the 100 owned females, 33 bred-and-owned females, 53 steers, 16 bred-and-owned steers, 11 bred-and-owned bulls, five cow-calf pairs and 70 Angus-based crossbred steers.
Karli Berkheimer, Dillsburg, Pa., led the grand champion bred-and-owned bull. BK PrimeTime 95J is an April 2021 son of Colburn Primo 5153.
EGF Turning Point 102 won the title of reserve grand champion bred-and-owned bull. Madison Stratton, Appomattox, Va., owns the January 2021 son of Stevenson Turning Point.
J. Gordon Clark, Gretna, Va., led the grand champion bred-and-owned female. Clarkboys SCC Ivy League 156 is a May 2021 daughter of SCC SCH 24 Karat 838. She earlier won intermediate champion.
Allison Davis, Shelbyville, Tenn., showed the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned female. AED Rita 037H is a December 2020 daughter of PVF Blacklist 7077. She first won senior champion.
SCC Classy Phyllis 136 won grand champion owned female after claiming junior champion – division 1. Ella Brooks, Prophetstown, Ill., owns the April 2021 daughter of PVF Blacklist 7077.
Mattie Harward, Richfield, N.C., showed the reserve grand champion owned female. Maplecrest Rita 0231 is a September 2020 daughter of PVF Blacklist 7077. She first won senior champion.
AED Rita 821F won grand champion cow-calf pair. Allison Davis, owns the November 2018 daughter of PVF Insight 0129. A November 2021 heifer calf sired by Conley Express 7211 completes the winning pair.
Quincy Clayton, Staunton, Va., showed the reserve grand champion cow-calf pair. QCC Skymere 912 is the September 2019 daughter of Conley Express 7211. A September 2021 bull calf sired by Stevenson Turning Point is at side.
Suter Clark, Gretna, Va., led the grand champion steer. BSF Geico Man 2130 is an April 2021 son of BSF Geico 1905.
Travis Heath, Cooksville, Md., showed the reserve grand champion steer. CC Primo 01 is an April 2021 son of Colburn Primo 5153.
Kinleigh Grim, Thomasville, Pa., showed the grand champion bred-and-owned steer. Beaver Creek Checkers 163 is a June 2021 son of Beaver Creek Prestige 975.
David Bell, Nottingham, Pa., led the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned steer. B & R GQ Guy is a January 2021 son of Silveiras S Sis GQ 2353.
