Champions Selected at 2022 Kansas Junior Angus Show
Kansas junior Angus members led 117 entries at the 2022 Kansas Junior Angus Association Preview Show, June 5 in Hutchinson, Kan. Chad Oates, Rising Star, Texas, evaluated 10 bred-and-owned bulls, 59 owned females, 21 bred-and-owned females, one cow-calf pair, nine registered Angus steers and 17 Phenotype and Genotype females before choosing winners.
Hinrichsen Marksman 1012 was named grand champion bred-and-owned bull. Eva Hinrichsen, Westmoreland, Kan., owns the February 2021 son of Seldom Rest Sandman 6075.
Ellie Laflin, Olsburg, Kan., led the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned bull. Laflins Sampson 1873 is a September 2021 son of Wilks Regiment 9035.
Seldom Rest Lucy 1165 won grand champion owned female. Eva Hinrichsen owns the July 2021 daughter of Seldom Rest Sandman 6075. She first won intermediate champion.
SCC CB Diamond Phyllis 137 won reserve grand champion owned female. Kelsey Theis, Leavenworth, Kan., owns the March 2021 daughter of SCC SCH 24 Karat 838. She first won late junior champion.
MLA Proven 2126 claimed third overall champion owned female for Kaelyn Schilling, Edson, Kan. The February 2021 daughter of BNWZ Dignity 8017 first claimed early junior champion.
Colby Brunker, Ottawa, Kan., led the fourth overall champion owned female, BLC Empress 2120. The March 2021 daughter of Gateway Follow Me F163 first won reserve late junior champion.
Checkerhill Saras Dream 180 claimed fifth overall champion owned female for Cohen Navinsky, Easton, Kan. The November 2021 daughter of Silveiras Style 9303 first claimed fall calf champion.
Cheyenne Brunker, Ottawa, Kan., led the grand champion bred-and-owned female. BLC Proven Queen 2101 is a March 2021 daughter of Gateway Follow Me F163. She first won junior champion.
Bar S Pride 123 was named reserve grand champion bred-and-owned female. Jayce Dickerson, Paradise, Kan., owns the June 2021 daughter of Silveiras Forbes 8088. She first won intermediate champion.
AVF Blackcap 5880 claimed third overall champion bred-and-owned female for Kelsey Theis. The November 2020 daughter of Silveiras Style 9303 first claimed senior champion.
Eva Hinrichsen led the fourth overall champion bred-and-owned female, Hinrichsen Forever Lady 1025. The June 2021 daughter of Schlling’s R&L Confidential first won reserve intermediate champion.
AVF Northern Miss 5921 claimed fifth overall champion bred-and-owned female for Kelsey Theis. The December 2021 daughter of EXAR Blue Chip 1877B first claimed fall calf champion.
Jayce Dickerson showed the supreme champion and grand champion cow-calf pair. Malsons Savannah 123G is a March 2019 daughter of Sma Watchout 482. A March 2022 heifer calf sired by BC Alpha c 1327 completes the winning pair.
PRDX Crown Royal J04 claimed grand champion Angus steer. Macey Lewis, Douglass, Kan., owns the March 2021 son of Colburn Primo 5153.
Bar S Liberty 1273 was named grand reserve champion Angus steer. James Hoffman, Effingham, Kan., owns the June 2021 son of Bar S Liberty 7503.
Tate Laflin, Olsburg, Kan., showed the grand champion female in the phenotype and genotype portion of the show. Laflins Jilt 105 is the October 2021 daughter of Laflins Black Powder 8532.
Creed Caldwell, Parker, Kan., led the reserve grand champion female in the phenotype and genotype portion of the show. CEC Blackcap 0202 is the September 2020 daughter of Deer Valley Wall Street.
