Angus to Host Commercial Cattlemen’s Day at OKC Fairgrounds

In conjunction with Cattlemen’s Congress, the American Angus Association® will host ‘Angus Commercial Cattlemen’s Day’ on Jan. 5.

Farmers and ranchers are invited to Angus Commercial Cattlemen’s Day on Friday, Jan. 5 in Oklahoma City at Cattlemen's Congress. This event, hosted by the American Angus Association®, features education, competition and fellowship.

Cattlemen wanting to stay ahead of the curve in business and breeding should plan to attend the day, which features a pen and carload show, “Balancing the Consumer and the Cow” educational session, luncheon featuring Certified Angus Beef, the National Angus Bull Sale and Herdsman Social.

The Super ROV Angus Pen & Carload Show kicks off the day at 8:30 a.m. in the Performance Arena on OKC Fairgrounds. At the same time, the coffee pot will be up and running in Super Barn 1 at the comfortable and inviting Association booth, and staff will be available to answer questions or help you purchase merchandise from the Brand Store.

Later in the morning, the “Balancing the Consumer and the Cow” educational session will take place from 10:00-11:00 a.m. brought to you by Angus University. This is an educational program for all types of cattle producers. Moderated by Radio Oklahoma Network's Ron Hays, featured panelists include Mark Johnson of Oklahoma State University, Jesse Luckie of Snake Creek Cattle Company and Paul Dykstra of Certified Angus Beef. Dykstra will also begin with a market insights presentation before the panel discussion. Time is allotted for questions from the audience, so producers can come join the conversation in the Performance Arena.

Cattlemen can connect with one another next at the Angus luncheon featuring Certified Angus Beef. This will follow the Angus University session and start at 11:30 a.m. also in the Performance Arena.

After that, they can view leading Angus genetics from top producers across the country beginning at 12:30 p.m. with the National Angus Bull Sale Preview in the Super Barn Sale Arena.

Next, the National Angus Bull Sale will start at 2:00 p.m. The sale is an exciting, live event that brings together cattlemen who are passionate about the power of Angus genetics. Immediately prior, the sale of the Angus Foundation Heifer Package will take place. This year’s package is donated by Yon Family Farms of Ridge Springs, SC.

At 3:45 p.m., attendees can unwind from the excitement of sale day with a social hour over at the Cattlemen’s Bar as the Association honors the Herdsman of the Year finalists. Around 5:00 p.m., there will be live auction items sold to benefit the Angus Foundation, and the award winner will be announced.

In the Super Barn all day, the Association booth will keep the coffee running. Staff will also be available to answer questions. Cattlemen can relax and chat or browse the Brand Store.

Attending this set of events is a fantastic way for cattlemen to stay ahead of the curve and for the Association to continue offering members and their customers with the best possible services and information. Again, breeders, commercial cattlemen and others from the cattle industry are welcome Jan. 5 on the OKC Fairgrounds for Angus Commercial Cattlemen’s Day.
