Deadline Extended – Apply Now for the Angus/Talon Youth Educational Learning Program Internship

Intern applications now available for summer 2020.

The best place to learn is often outside of the classroom. The Angus/Talon Youth Educational Learning Program Internship is a unique learning experience for both interns and host ranches. The program offers interns the chance to gain knowledge of the beef industry while also encouraging advocates for the future. Apply now through Dec. 25 for the opportunity to learn the ropes of a beef cattle operation, as well as be mentored by cattlemen and women.

“The Talon Internship is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for young people interested in the beef industry to not only get hands on experience on the farm or ranch, but more importantly, learn from some of the most knowledgeable individuals in the industry,” said Rod Schoenbine, Angus Foundation director of development. “This program allows participating ranches to take part in educating future beef leaders.”

The internship honors the legacy of the late Camron “Cam” Cooper of the Talon Ranch, Twin Bridges, Montana, through this internship program. Cooper developed the Angus/Talon Youth Educational Learning Program Endowment Fund in 2009 to be a holistic educational experience for students. College sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students under the age of 25 majoring in an agricultural related field of study are eligible to apply for the internship.

The selected intern will have the chance to learn from some of the best professionals in the business about different roles in the Angus industry. Internship duties may include tasks ranging from doing daily chores, helping prepare show cattle, breeding cattle, veterinary tasks, as well as fence maintenance, irrigation and more. Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in other Angus and beef cattle educational events and activities off the farm such as conferences, field days, etc.
