A Record Year for the Angus Foundation Scholarship Fund

The Angus Foundation will provide more support to Angus youth than ever before.

With the next generation at its heart, the Angus Foundation strives to provide financial support to Angus youth pursuing higher education. Proving to be a record year, more than $232,000 in scholarships are to be awarded to youth at the 2019 National Junior Angus Show (NJAS) in Louisville, Kentucky, to help assist in funding undergraduate and graduate degrees.

New this year, Angus Foundation Scholarships are more robust than ever before. The larger scholarships given by the Angus Foundation this year will help offset the rising cost of higher education.

This year, over 90 scholarships recipients will be recognized at the 2019 NJAS along with eight LEAD awards recipients. In addition, three $1,000 Allied Angus Breeder Scholarships will be awarded outside of the NJAS. A grand total of $238,200 will be given to junior Angus members throughout the year to instill confidence and ensure the success of the next generation.

“The Angus Foundation is proud to support the next generation of leaders – whether their future lies in or out of the Angus industry,” said Rod Schoenbine, Angus Foundation director of development. “It’s past junior Angus members who are leading today, and present leaders who will later fill their shoes.”

A total of 125 applications were received for the undergraduate, graduate, Certified Angus Beef and Allied Angus Breeder Scholarships. Three-member committees evaluate the scholarship applications. National Junior Angus Association (NJAA) involvement, state association participation, leadership and other criteria are considered. Since 1998, the Angus Foundation has awarded more than $3.5 million in undergraduate and graduate scholarships. History proves as time has progressed, donors have proven themselves faithful supporters of Angus youth and the future of the Angus breed.
