American Angus Auxiliary Hosts Heifer Auction
“The Tradition Continues” with GAR Progress M381 on June 17.
           

                The American Angus Auxiliary heifer auction is an ideal way to support the Angus community, and bring home top Angus genetics. Gardiner Angus Ranch of Ashland, Kan., donated this year’s heifer to be sold during “The Tradition Continues” auction, which is held June 17 in conjunction with the All-American Angus Breeder’s Futurity at the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky.

            “What makes the Angus breed so valuable is the American Angus Association^®, the Angus Foundation and the American Angus Auxiliary,” says Mark Gardiner of Gardiner Angus Ranch. “We are happy to pull our weight and donate this outstanding heifer.”

            The auction presents the bred-heifer GAR Progress M381, sired by GAR Progress.  She is bred to GAR Prophet and offers genetics that rank in the top 15% of the Angus database. Gardiner Angus Ranch will also donate transportation costs.

            Auxiliary President Anne Lampe says the auction gives Angus breeders a chance to give back, and celebrate youth achievements:  “We work diligently all year to guarantee scholarships for our Angus youth. They are the future of this breed, and with the help of this event, the future of the breed looks bright.”

            All proceeds from the auction will benefit the Auxiliary’s scholarship and awards endowments held in the Angus Foundation, which are: 10 Auxiliary scholarships; the Crystal, Grote and Spader Awards; the Silver Pitcher Award; the Miss American Angus contest; the All-American Certified Angus Beef^® (CAB) Cook-Off contest; and the National Showmanship Awards.  The awards and scholarships are presented annually during the National Junior Angus Show, held this year July 15-21 in Louisville, Ky.

            “The Gardiner family and American Angus Auxiliary are to be commended for their unwavering commitment to making a difference in the lives of our Angus youth,” says Milford Jenkins, Angus Foundation president. “It’s always a pleasure for the Angus Foundation to assist with this fundraising activity, as well as be the fiduciary steward of the Auxiliary’s endowment funds.”
