Angus Champions Selected at 2014 Iowa State Fair
Angus entries competed for top honors at the 2014 Iowa State Fair Angus Show, August 12 in Des Moines, Iowa. John Rayfield, College Station, Texas, evaluated the 180 entries, which included 129 females, 45 bulls and six cow-calf pairs.
WWA Upward W325 claimed grand champion bull honors. Wishing Well Angus, Columbus Junction, Iowa, owns the February 2013 son of Sitz Upward 307R. He first claimed junior champion.
Naig Younge Class Act 313 was named reserve grand champion bull. Naig Cattle, Cylinder, Iowa; and Courtney Younge and Sydney Younge, both of Ventura, Iowa, own the April 2013 son of Dameron First Class that earlier won reserve junior champion.
Dameron Bardot 362 captured grand champion female and junior champion for Drew Norris, Corydon, Iowa. She’s a February 2013 daughter of Dameron First Class.
Jordan Johnson, Fort Dodge, Iowa, claimed reserve grand champion female. PVF Empress 3140 is an April 2013 daughter of PVF Insight 0129 and first won reserve junior champion.
Brody Fitzgerald, West Grove, Pa., and Moffitt Angus Farms, Colfax, Iowa, own the grand champion cow-calf pair. Cherry Knoll Lady Lola 1194 is a September 2011 daughter of B C Lookout 7024. A February 2014 bull calf sired by Connealy Final Solution completes the winning pair.
Lauren Barker and Jordan Barker, both of Monticello, Iowa, own the reserve grand champion cow-calf pair. R&C Blackbird 912Z is a March 2012 daughter of Dameron First Class. A March 2014 heifer calf sired by PVF Insight 0129 is at side.
