Exhibitors Compete in the American Royal Angus Show

KANSAS CITY – Exhibitors from 22 states vied for top honors in the Angus show, judged by Mike McGuire of Waverly, Ala., on Oct. 30 at the American Royal.

The grand champion female went to McCurry Blackcap 9024, sired by Marands M-W Assassin 518, and exhibited by Tanner Rayl, Hutchinson, Kan. Rayl’s female was first named junior champion. The reserve grand champion female as well as reserve junior champion, Champion Hill Georgina 72561, sired by SAV Bismarck 5682, was shown by Mandy Richardson of Louisa, Va.

The grand champion bull was EXAR Velocity 81213, exhibited by Express Angus Ranches, Yukon, Okla.; Brad & Dawn Gohr, Madras, Ore.; and Rockin’ A & J Ranch of Auburn, Wash. He is sired by Exar Lutton 1831 and was first selected as the senior champion. The reserve grand champion bull was DAJS Shockwave 612, out of Gambles Hot Rod and exhibited by Jennifer Ewing and Matthew Ewing, both of Rushville, Ill.; and Katy Satree, Montague, Texas. He was previously selected as the champion intermediate bull.

The champion cow-calf pair was Champion Hill Georgina 6518 sired by S A V Bismarck 5682. She was shown by Thomas Lundy, Bardstown, Ky. The reserve champion cow-calf pair was C Q S Lady Betty 3207, a S A V Prairie Knight 5666 daughter. She was exhibited by Callie Smith of Lebanon, Tenn.

Express Angus Ranches, Yukon, Okla., exhibited the champion junior heifer calf, EXAR Penny 0486, an Exar Lutton 1831 daughter. SH Blossom 0138, out of Leachman Saugahatchee 3000C, was the reserve champion junior heifer calf. She was exhibited by Sterling Reichenbach of Bath, Mich.

The champion senior heifer calf, shown by Kaitlyn Clarke of West Chester, Ohio, was Champion Hill Peg 7350, a S A V Bismarck 5682 daughter. WCC Lass 965, sired by S A V Pioneer 7301, was the reserve champion senior heifer calf. She was exhibited by Mark Moriondo, Mount Vernon, Mo.

The champion intermediate heifer, exhibited by Savannah Brauning, Finksburg, Md., was Champion Hill Georgina 7285, sired by S A V Providence 6922. Reserve champion intermediate heifer went to PVF Ellen 9100, a PVF ALL AYDAY729 daughter. She was exhibited by Jared Radcliffe, Schofield, Wis.

The champion senior yearling heifer was WCC Arkdale Pride 8113, out of N Bar Emulation EXT and shown by Paige Wallace, Stotts City, Mo. Cody Smith, West Plains, Mo., exhibited the reserve champion senior yearling heifer, Checkerhill Missy U13, sired by S A V Net Worth 4200.

The champion junior bull calf was DAJS Bonanza 648, out of S A V Net Worth 4200. He was exhibited by Katy Satree, Montague, Texas. Callie Smith of Lebanon, Tenn. exhibited the reserve champion junior bull calf, C Q S New Day 3200, a C Q S New Day EXT 1177 son.

OSU Titlelist 9216, the champion senior bull calf, was exhibited by Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, Okla. He is an EXAR Titlelist T011 son. The reserve champion senior bull calf was Mosa Sir H98W, out of MCC Cupid 414, and was exhibited by Hermosa Cattle Co. LLC, Fayetteville, Ark.

EXAR Wanted 9732B, the champion junior yearling bull, was exhibited by Express Angus Ranches, Yukon, Okla., and Willow Springs Ranch, Prairie Grove, Ark. He is an Exar Lutton 1831 son. The reserve champion junior yearling bull was H V R Lasater 910 of 6N, sired by Sankeys Lazer 609 of 6N, and exhibited by High View Ranch of Council Grove, Kan., and Foster Campbell II, Bossier City, La.

Gohr Livewire 8101, the reserve champion senior yearling bull, was sired by BC 7022 Raven 7965. He was exhibited by Brad & Dawn Gohr, Madras, Ore.

The American Royal, Kansas City's longest running show, has been a Kansas City tradition since 1899.
