This Father’s Day, Salute Dad with a Steak!

Thank him with a classic ribeye recipe perfect for hungry men everywhere

No place brings fathers and their loved ones together quite like the kitchen does. Affectionately known as the heart of the home, the kitchen is where generations-old recipes are shared, beloved heirloom cookware is passed down and tabletop family dinners are prepared. It is here that many of the strongest bonds and fondest memories are formed between a father and his family.

This Father’s Day, Certified Angus Beef® brand serves up a classic pan-seared ribeye steak (video) recipe ideal for hungry dads everywhere. Featuring a ribeye cut, this simple, no-fuss recipe from Certified Angus Beef® brand chef Michael Ollier highlights complex layers of flavor with a savory combination of butter, thyme and garlic. The ribeye is easily prepared in 20 minutes or less, transitioning from stovetop to oven using the versatility of a 10-inch Le Creuset® Signature enameled cast iron skillet, which features a useful helper handle to ensure easy and safe movement in the kitchen.

For an easy summer meal dads can prepare together with kids, pair the ribeye with roasted corn or grilled watermelon to keep things simple. If a gourmet dinner is the gift being served to dad this year, complement the steak with warm bean and orzo salad or lemon potatoes and asparagus for a sophisticated presentation. However, you choose to dish it out, one thing is certain: The Certified Angus Beef® brand classic, pan-seared ribeye makes a delectable Father’s Day meal that no dad will soon forget.

Classic Pan-Seared Ribeye Steak

Note: This technique creates a charred steak using a hot skillet. Be prepared with potholders.

Ingredients

·         1 (16-ounce) Certified Angus Beef ® ribeye steak

·         Le Creuset® 10-inch Signature enameled cast iron skillet

·         1 teaspoon peanut or canola oil

·         1/2 teaspoon coarse kosher salt

·         1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper

·         3-4 thyme sprigs

·         2 garlic cloves, partially crushed

·         2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

1.      Place skillet in oven and preheat oven to 450°F. Brush both sides of steak with oil and season with salt and pepper. When oven is heated, carefully remove pan and place on stovetop over medium heat.

2.      Place steak in skillet and sear for 2 minutes. Flip, top with garlic and thyme and place skillet back in oven for 6-7 minutes.

3.      Put skillet back on stovetop over low heat. Flip steak, top with butter and carefully tilt pan while scooping melted butter, garlic and thyme to continually coat steak for 1-3 minutes. Confirm doneness with an instant read thermometer and pull from skillet at 120-125°F for medium rare. Let rest five minutes and coat with browned butter before serving.
