Angus Champions Selected at 2018 Iowa State Fair
Angus entries competed for top honors at the 2018 Iowa State Fair Angus Show, August 14 in Des Moines, Iowa. Jake Scott, Gordon, Neb., evaluated the 170 entries, which included 139 females, 25 bulls and six cow-calf pairs.
Chestnut Making Bank 207 claimed grand champion bull honors. Hoffman Ranch, Thedford, Neb.; Dawson Johnson, Pipestone, Minn.; and Knox Brothers, Tennyson, Texas, own the February 2017 son of Barstow Bankroll B73. He first claimed junior champion.
TBD The Dean 701 was named reserve grand champion bull. Taylor Duckett, Tipton, Iowa, owns the March 2017 son of S A V Brilliance 8077 that earlier won reserve junior champion.
SCC SCH Ellie’s Girl 734 captured grand champion female and junior champion for Kara Collison, Rockwell City, Iowa. She is a March 2017 daughter of Colburn Primo 5153.
Rowdi Van Zee, Sioux Center, Iowa, claimed reserve grand champion female. PVF Missie 7137 is a March 2017 daughter of Colburn Primo 5153 and first won reserve junior champion.
Wesly Johnson, Pipestone, Minn., owns the grand champion cow-calf pair. Chestnut Peg WJ 659 is a February 2016 daughter of Chestnut PF Fire Ball 234. A February 2018 heifer calf sired by 3F Epic 4631 completes the winning pair.
Will Kiesewetter, Letts, Iowa, owns the reserve grand champion cow-calf pair. JS Black Lass D2 is a January 2016 daughter of McCoy First Class 109-6119. A February 2018 heifer calf sired by Styles Cashed In S8 is at side.
