In Memory: Leroy Baldwin
Remembering longtime Angus breeder and a former American Angus Association president
The American Angus Association and its members today honor the legacy of Leroy Baldwin, Ocala, Fla., who passed away Dec. 23.
A first-generation cattle rancher, Baldwin purchased his first calves with earnings from a newspaper route he started when he was six years old. Over the years, Baldwin Angus Ranch grew to more than 600 acres and 200 head of cattle.
Baldwin served on the American Angus Association Board of Directors for eight years, including a term as president in 2002. He was an active leader in the Angus business and always strived to have nothing but the best quality. Baldwin Angus exported cattle to more than 20 countries and all over the United States.
Baldwin is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sharon; sons, Tony and Alan; daughter, Joy Papy; and 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. His three children are all an active part of the ranching business.
Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wyomina Park Baptist Church, 1411 NE 14th St., Ocala, with the funeral service at 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will follow at the family plot.
