After 75 years of raising Angus cattle, Tehama Angus Ranch is still rooted in its goal of improving the Angus breed through both the stock and the folks that raise them. This commitment is highlighted through their donation of the 2022 Angus Foundation Heifer Package that will be sold at the National Angus Bull Sale in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on January 7, 2022.

“The Foundation has been able to put money into research projects and youth programs,” said Bill Borror, Tehama Angus Ranch owner. “It shows commitment by breeders for our next generation, and we would like to be part of that.”

The family believes in the Angus Foundation. Bryce Borror, Bill’s grandson, has previously benefited from attending Beef Leaders Institute, an Angus Foundation sponsored event. Their focus on the future and dedication to improvement makes the family proud to offer a pick of five heifers for the 2022 Foundation Heifer Package.

When asked about the offering, Bill says the cattle are the “best of the best. They are the kind you want to raise.” Bryce adds the offering also represents the program’s maternal focus.

A maternal focus has been important since Tehama Angus Ranch was started with the purchase of Bill’s first 4-H project. From one heifer to 50 cows and now 500, the family has a deep heritage within the breed, especially in California where they were the first family to have an Angus bull sale. They saw value in the breed before others thought highly of registered livestock.

“We are grateful for the Borror family’s Angus roots and the outstanding donation they made to support the Angus Foundation and its impact,” said Thomas Marten, Angus Foundation executive director. “We are also extremely fortunate to have our add-on sponsors. This year will be the 39th year with American Live Stock Insurance, 36th year with Lathrop Livestock Transportation and 29th year with Trans Ova Genetics.”

The sale of the Angus Foundation Heifer Package will take place Friday, January 7, 2022, prior to the start of the 83rd National Angus Bull Sale during Cattlemen’s Congress. The sale will start at 2 p.m. at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
