How do I create a correct contemporary group? Why do contemporary groups matter? Hear from Esther McCabe, Association director of performance programs, on the basis of creating contemporary groups. McCabe discussed what contemporary groups are and why they are important, how they contribute to the Association’s database, and identified tips and tricks to help producers.
McCabe is a third-generation Angus producer originally from Elk City, Kansas. McCabe holds a doctorate in Animal Science from Kansas State University, with a research emphasis in beef cattle data analytics. As Director of Performance Programs, she works to assist breeders and Angus members in data submissions, herd management and recordkeeping and evaluating expected progeny differences (EPDs). McCabe has a passion for genetic selection and breed improvement, and enjoys the opportunity to support the membership.
