Angus Champions Named at 2017 Missouri State Fair
Exhibitors led 238 entries at the 2017 Missouri State Fair Angus Show, August 11 in Sedalia, Mo. Ryan Sweeney, Stillwater, Okla., evaluated the 177 females, 55 bulls and six cow-calf pairs before selecting champions.
Hillard Stonewall 601 claimed grand champion and junior champion bull honors. Kimberlee Gieseker, Holliday, Mo., and Gerloff Farms, Bland, Mo., own the January 2016 son of PVF Insight 0129.
Hunter Angus, Fair Grove, Mo., and Austin Nowatzke, Michigan City, Ind., own the reserve grand champion bull. BNWZ VIP 5071 is a February 2015 son of BSF Opportunist Z5. He earlier won senior champion.
EXAR Princess 6680 captured grand champion female for Carter Ward, Plattsburg, Mo. The January 2016 daughter of S&R Roundtable J328 first won junior champion.
Chase Monte, Mexico, Mo., showed the reserve grand champion female. SydGen II Chloe 5463 is a September 2015 daughter of EXAR Blue Chip 1877B and first won senior champion.
EXAR Envious Blackbird 5979 was named grand champion cow-calf pair. Alexis Borgstadt, Concordia, Mo., owns the January 2015 daughter of PVF Insight 0129. A January 2017 bull calf sired by C&C Mckinley 3000 EXAR completes the winning pair.
Zoe Gurley, Sarcoxie, Mo., owns the reserve grand champion cow-calf pair. Our Place Lady Erica 225 ZXG is a March 2015 daughter of EXAR Upshot 0562B. A March 2017 heifer calf sired by Connealy Capitalist 028 completes the pair.
