Angus Champions Selected at 2017 Iowa State Fair
Angus entries competed for top honors at the 2017 Iowa State Fair Angus Show, August 15 in Des Moines, Iowa. Scott Foster, Niles, Mich., evaluated the 192 entries, which included 154 females, 32 bulls and six cow-calf pairs.
W C C Classic D55 claimed grand champion bull honors. Webster Farms, Walker, Iowa; Wilson Cattle Company, Cloverdale, Ind.; and Foose Show Cattle, Elmwood, Ill., own the April 2016 son of EXAR Classen 1422B. He first claimed junior champion.
Schroeder Ace 106 was named reserve grand champion bull. Doug and Glenda Schroeder, Clarence, Iowa, own the October 2016 son of Greene Pokerface 1304 that earlier won senior calf champion.
Collison Georgina 1557 captured grand champion female and senior champion for Abby Collison, Rockwell City, Iowa. She’s an October 2015 daughter of Dameron First Class.
Maddy Udell, Sioux City, Iowa, claimed reserve grand champion female. Greiman FCF SCC Blackbird186 is a February 2016 daughter of BSF Hot Lotto 1401 and first won junior champion.
Courtney Younge, Ventura, Iowa, owns the grand champion cow-calf pair. Younges Georgina 562 is an April 2015 daughter of Silveiras Style 9303. A February 2017 heifer calf sired by Dameron First Impression completes the winning pair.
Jacob Schermer, Clarion, Iowa, owns the reserve grand champion cow-calf pair. SAC Lady T35 is an April 2014 daughter of Silveiras Conversation 8064. A March 2017 heifer calf sired by Styles Cash R400 is at side.
