Angus Champions Named at 2018 Pennsylvania Farm Show
Angus enthusiasts led 111 entries at the 2018 Pennsylvania Farm Show’s Angus Show, January 8 in Harrisburg, Pa. Lucas Ziegler, New Windsor, Md., evaluated the 86 females, 22 bulls and three cow-calf pairs.
Cherry Knoll Bootlegger 1503 was named grand champion bull. Fred Frey, Drumore, Pa.; Frey Family Angus, Quarryville, Pa.; and Jade Zimmerman, Stevens, Pa., own the January 2015 son of Wright SCC Bootlegger 0522. He earlier won senior champion.
Courtney Dahlquist, Washington, Pa., owns the reserve grand champion bull. CD Final Product 1271 is a December 2016 son of Cherry Knoll Product 1271 and first won senior calf champion.
Samuel Parr, East Berlin, Pa., owns the supreme champion overall breeds and grand champion female. Beaver Creek Scaara 687 is a March 2016 daughter of EXAR Classen 1422B and first won junior champion.
Hara’s Miss Pride 327E claimed reserve grand champion female. Campbell Land and Cattle, Sycamore, Pa., owns the March 2017 daughter of Dameron First Class. She first won late junior calf champion.
Iron MTN Pam C084 claimed grand champion cow-calf pair. J H Keifer Farm, Bangor, Pa., owns the February 2015 daughter of Connealy Consensus 7229. A June 2017 bull calf sired by B C C Bushwacker 41-93 completes the winning pair.
Cherry Knoll Rosebud 1226 won reserve grand champion cow-calf pair. Matthew Mitchell and Michael Butz, both of Reinholds, Pa.; and Rachel Clark, Mercersburg, Pa., own the March 2012 daughter of MCATL Reachout 836. A September 2017 heifer calf sired by Hoover Dam is at side.
