Auxiliary Elects Officers, Conducts Annual Meeting

Members of the American Angus Auxiliary elected officers and conducted the organization’s annual meeting, Saturday, Nov. 14, during Angus events in conjunction with the 2009 North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE), in Louisville, Ky.

Auxiliary members chose the 2009-2010 officer team, including: Kathi Creamer, Montrose, Colo., president; Barbara Ettredge, Pilot Point, Texas, president-elect; Anne Lampe, Scott City, Kan., secretary-treasurer; and Michelle Rieff, Bentonville, Ark., advisor.

During the meeting, members heard committee reports; revised Auxiliary bylaws to clarify election processes for regional directors; and adopted a revised scholarship application.

The revised 2010 scholarship application features several changes meant to provide a simplified format. Applications, which will be available at www.angusauxiliary.com in the coming weeks, are due May 1. For more information contact Barbara Ettredge, scholarship chairwoman, at 940-686-2958 or circleefarms@aol.com.

Revised bylaws will also be available at www.angusauxiliary.com beginning early 2010.

In addition, the Auxiliary recognized retiring committee chairwomen Linda Brost, Finance Committee; Mary McCurry, Miss American Angus Committee; and Sandra McCurry, Program and Hospitality Committee.

Members also welcomed the newest Auxiliary officer, Secretary-treasuer Anne Lampe of Scott City, Kan., who has served as co-chair of the Auxiliary Beef Education/Cook-Off Committee since 2005 as well as other Auxiliary committees.

The Auxiliary’s six regional directors include: Mary K. Vejraska, Omak, Wash.; Annie Viator, Franklin, Texas; Lynne Hinrichsen, Westmoreland, Kan.; Martha Holshouser, Gold Hill, N.C.; Leslie Mindemann, Sullivan, Wis.; and Cortney Hill-Dukehart, Sykesville, Md.

The American Angus Auxiliary consists of individuals interested in the welfare of the Angus breed.  Its members work to provide educational activities for junior Angus members, such as scholarship programs, awards and competitions.  For more information about the American Angus Auxiliary, visit www.angusauxiliary.com.
