Members to Conduct Annual Meeting

American Angus Association® members will meet in Louisville, Ky., beginning this weekend for annual Angus events in conjunction with the North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE).

Members will conduct the 126th Annual Convention of Delegates Monday, where five directors will be elected to the Association Board of Directors. Votes will also be cast for president and vice president, and an overview of Association activities during the past year, including a financial report, will be presented.

Copies of the Association’s 2009 Annual Report will be available at the meeting. The report will not be inserted into the Angus Journal as in previous years, but is available online at www.angus.org. Printed copies also are available upon request by contacting Lea Ann Maudlin at 816-383-5155 or lmaudlin@angus.org.

The North American International Livestock Exposition (NAILE) Super-Point Roll of Victory (ROV) Angus show begins Monday morning in the KFEC Freedom Hall West Ring. The bull and cow-calf pair show is scheduled for Monday, while the female show will take place Tuesday.

For the first time in years, three judges will determine show winners at this year’s NAILE Angus shows. Here’s how the system will work:

• Each judge will mark his top animals on a card, which will then be distributed to Association staff to pull for evaluation by all three judges.

• During each class, the three judges will be assigned as Judge A, Judge B or as Referee. The designations will rotate throughout the show. For example, Boggs may be Judge A for Class 1, but Judge B for Class 2.

• After the top animals are pulled out of the line up; all three judges will rank those animals independently and turn his card in for computer tabulation. The referee judge for the particular class will place the bottom end of the class. After the top end of the class has been computer-tabulated, the ring person will pull in the top end from the bottom to top, and the A judge will talk the class.

For immediate show results, visit www.angus.org/showresults, which may also be accessed through mobile phones, depending on phone capabilities.

For those at home wanting to watch the show, the NAILE will again provide live Web cam coverage online at www.livestockexpo.org.

After the convention and show, tune in to RFD-TV’s AgDay or U.S. Farm Report beginning Nov. 18 for national television coverage and Angus highlights. Following the show, producers may also visit www.angusjournal.com/louisville for complete show coverage provided by Angus Productions Inc. (API).

The American Angus Association is the nation’s largest beef organization, serving more than 30,000 members across the United States and Canada.
