Investing in the Next Generation
Angus Foundation scholarships totaling $225,500 awarded during the 2013 NJAS.
The National Junior Angus Show (NJAS) is much more than an opportunity to get involved in the Angus breed. Thanks to generous donors through the Angus Foundation, it’s also an opportunity for juniors to continue their education. At this year’s NJAS in Kansas City, Mo., the Angus Foundation presented 98 scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students totaling to $225,500.
“Angus members recognize that today’s youth play an important role in the future of our industry,” says Milford Jenkins, Angus Foundation president. “Whether they pursue a degree in agriculture or not, these scholarships help Angus youth in following their dreams.”
A five-member committee evaluates the scholarship applications and considers NJAA involvement, state association participation, leadership and other criteria. Since 1998, the Angus Foundation has awarded nearly $1.9 million in graduate and undergraduate scholarships to Angus youth.
