Plan for Spring Now, Save Money Later

The American Angus Association offers affordable products online.

As cattlemen get ready for spring calving, and everything that goes with it, it is necessary to stock up on all the needed supplies. The American Angus Association®’s Tag Store is a one-stop shop to prepare for the calves to hit the ground.

“There’s nothing worse than having calves ready to tag, only to realize you’re two or three tags short,” says Ginette Kurtz, AngusSource® quality manager. “Our online Tag Store allows you to purchase everything you need in a fast and easy manner.”

Visit www.customcattletags.com to browse a variety of tag options, applicators, accessories and other affordable products.

More than just tags

Accessories available for purchase below retail price include applicators, markers and knives. New to The Tag Store this year are the Allflex Repeater Syringes. The syringes, available in 25cc and 50cc, accurately deliver a preselected dose of medication, plus a special locking mechanism to prevent air or contaminants from entering the syringe. Also take a look at the Large Panel Stud that can be used with all the Destron visual panel tags in place of the small round stud. Large Panel Stud can be customized with a management number or a logo for an additional cost.

“By purchasing all of their herd needs at The Tag Store, a producer can spend less time searching for tags and accessories and more time with his herd,” Kurtz says.

Many identification options

The online store offers Duflex® visual tags in numerous colors and sizes. Logos, text on the front and back of the tag, and/or on the tag stud can be printed for a small fee. Xtra Large visual tags cost $1.

The customization options are endless. Farmers and ranchers can build numerous tags with specific data using a spreadsheet template and step-by-step directions. The document can then be uploaded online as a CSV file for you to preview a proof online.

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tags are available as an individual e. Tag®, as part of a visual in a Combo e. Tag® or paired with a visual tag in a ChoiceSetTM. RFID tags offer producers the opportunity for more advanced and efficient electronic record keeping. 840 TagsTM are available as a visual, e. Tag, Combo e. Tag or ChoiceSet for producers with a Premise ID.

When considering tag options for commercial calves, take a minute to read how AngusSource or Gateway can add value to a calf crop. The age-and-source verification programs give potential buyers more information on sale day, and when managed correctly, could mean a greater profit margin for producers.

Gateway documents source and group age, and AngusSource goes a step further and guarantees a minimum 50% Angus genetics. Fore more information, contact the AngusSource team at 816-383-5100.

The American Angus Association serves nearly 30,000 members across the United States and Canada. It provides programs and services to farmers, ranchers and others who rely on the power of Angus to produce quality genetics for the beef industry and quality beef for consumers.
