Lastovica Earned the Junior Angus Bronze & Silver Awards
Logan
Lastovica, Fredericksburg,
Texas, has earned the National Junior Angus
Association’s (NJAA) Bronze and Silver Awards, according to James Fisher, director of junior activities for
the American Angus Association® in Saint Joseph, Mo.
Logan is the 18-year-old son of Robert and Abban Lastovica and attends Fredericksburg High School. He is active in the NJAA and the Texas
Junior Angus Associations (TJAA) where he served as first and second vice
president. In 2007, he
represented TJAA at the NJAA Showmanship Competition and served as a voting
delegate to the NJAA Annual Meeting.
Logan
has entered the NJAA team sales and quiz bowl contests for several years at
the National Junior Angus Show. He
has also attended the Leaders Engaged in Angus Development (LEAD) Conference.
Logan has shown his
Angus cattle at numerous shows on the local, state and national levels. A member since 1998, he has enrolled his
cattle in the Angus Herd Improvement Records (AHIR®) program and
consigned bulls to the family production sale.
The
Bronze and Silver Awards are the first two levels of the NJAA Recognition
Program that began in 1972.
Junior Angus breeders must apply for the awards and then meet point
requirements in many areas of participation before receiving the honors. Applicants are evaluated in the areas
of junior Angus association activities and leadership, participation in
showmanship, contests and shows, using performance testing to improve their
herd and their progress in producing and merchandising Angus cattle.
The
NJAA promotes the involvement of young people in raising Angus cattle, while
also providing leadership and self-development opportunities for nearly
11,000 members nationwide.
