Bronze & Silver Pins Awarded to Stephanie Hymel

Stephanie Hymel, Vacherie, La., has earned the National Junior Angus Association’s (NJAA) Bronze and Silver Awards, according to James Fisher, director of junior activities for the American Angus Association® in Saint Joseph, Mo.

A member since 2002, Stephanie is the 14-year-old daughter of Eddie and Patti Hymel and attends Riverside Academy.  She is member of the NJAA and Louisiana Junior Angus Associations.  She served as the Louisiana Angus princess in 2005.  Stephanie has competed in the creative writing and photography contests at the National Junior Angus Show as well as the All-American Certified Angus Beef® Cook-off.

Stephanie has excelled with her Angus cattle in the show ring on the local and state levels.  She has enrolled her cattle in Angus Herd Improvement Records (AHIR®), entered bulls in the Louisiana State University-A spring bull test, and consigned a bull to the Louisiana Angus Association Bull Sale.

The Bronze and Silver Awards are the first two levels of the NJAA Recognition Program that began in 1972.  Junior Angus breeders must apply for the awards and then meet point requirements in many areas of participation before receiving the honors.  Applicants are evaluated in the areas of junior Angus association activities and leadership, participation in showmanship, contests and shows, using performance testing to improve their herd and their progress in producing and merchandising Angus cattle.

The NJAA promotes the involvement of young people in raising Angus cattle, while also providing leadership and self-development opportunities for nearly 11,000 members nationwide.
